The tradition of Nihonga has always emphasized the study of classical paintings as a means to acquire essential skills. This piece, richly adorned with kirikane, was instrumental in my mastery of the technique.

Looking back, this work was a true milestone that defined my path toward specializing in kirikane. During its creation, I was fortunate enough to receive guidance from the late Sayoko Eri, a Living National Treasure—an experience that remains a cherished cornerstone of my artistic journey.
